gm_housewithbasement

gm_housewithbasement is a Garry's Mod map by The Fun. gm_housewithbasement was released on the 5th of June 2025 and has since recieved one update on the 10th of June. The map is a small house that features a basement.

The Map

gm_housewithbasement's layout is a pretty simple house, rooms included are: a kitchen/living room, a basement with two sections, one bedroom, a bathroom, a shower, an outdoor section, and a secret room. The map was at first only a basement, and the rest of the house was added in later in development, due to this the brushwork in the map is pretty messy since it was never originally made for a house. The skybox is also made lazilly, with just being a box that incloses the map and not only doing some sections. gm_housewithbasement was not The Fun's first attempt of making a basement themed map, as the unreleased gm_basement from 2022 was the first real go at making a basement themed map, however in that map only the basement and outside were accesable.

Rooms

Secret Room

When the map released on the 5th of June, there was no secret room in the map at all, and no secret room was ever planned, however due to people in the comment section of the map who kept thinking the map was some sort of ARG or had something more to it when it didn't, The Fun decided to add one secret to the map. To access the room, the player needs to go to the basement where they will spot a static fax machine, behind the fax machine there is a small watermelon that the player is supposed to break. After doing so, walking into the shower will open a wall. In the secret room theres not much, most notable things are the "WALL OF DELUSIONS!!!" brush on the wall, that features a few comments from the maps comment section, that all thought the map had something more in it. Theres also a platform with The Fun's earlier funmilk.mdl playermodel standing on it. The platform has text saying y"a word from the maps creator: the fun (in other words go play gm_wayremake)" Theres a button on the side, which on pressing will play a sound effect of The Fun yelling "YOU GUYS SUCK! YOU GUYS SUCK SO MUCH *unintelligible* ...*yell* *burp*"

Reception

gm_housewithbasement gained traction incredibly quickly, reaching five stars on the Steam workshop in the first week of its release. The map now has 27,917 current subscribers, and 830 Positive ratings (out of 868)
